OS/390 MVS Concepts and Facilities

Initially I wanted to do a course called OS/390 An Introduction. However, when I was trying to access him, I saw that it had been discontinued. As I had a curiosity about this subject, I subscribed to another course called OS/390 MVS's course. This very interesting course. The course begins with a series of questions to evaluation the users knowledge. Than, it presents the history of MVS, starting from MVS/370, going through MVS / XA until MVS / ESA. It uses this history to explain the concepts of MVS, like virtual machine, parallel sysplex, channels, LPARs, Jobs, JCL, the several types of record formats and access methods, databases, programming, the several types of memory addressing and many others. In spite of being an old course with outdated graphic interface I recommend it.

This course is excellent. He covers in details the implementation of the skeletons and stubs of RMI. It explains the dependences that occur when using RMI. It shows alternatives to reduce such dependences as updating the code base through file system, FTP or even HTTP. It explains to use of JNDI to locate objects. It explains in a very low detail the implementation of the classes, the use of the interface and the treatment of exceptions. It makes the same for JMS. It shows simultaneously the concepts and code behind a Pear-to-Pear (P2P) and Publish and Subscribe implementation. I recommend this course.
